Frequently Asked Questions and
Tips For Getting The Most Out Of The Program
Why do affirmations?
Affirmations are a powerful way to strongly assert a belief or commitment. Combined with meditation, affirmations provide a gateway to getting quiet and finding that place in you where you can move an idea from a mental concept to an embodied reality and to notice what shows up in your life.
What if I just can’t believe the affirmation to be true for me?
If the affirmation feels untrue for you, modify the statement to something that is more believable for you right now. For example, instead of saying “I am courageous”, you might say, “I am open to being courageous” or “I am becoming more courageous” or “why is it that I’m so courageous?”
How do I make affirmations myself?
You may have very specific qualities or beliefs you want to affirm. If you do, think about what you’d like your belief to be. Then create an “I statement” that is personal (I), present tense (am, accept, love, trust) and positive. (Courageous or more courageous vs. not afraid or less afraid.)
What if I miss a day?
Missing a day from time-to-time is natural. If this happens for you, merely pick up where you left off and continue with the series. Each affirmation meditation will be available on line for 7 days in the full 21 day program. If you want to listen to it later than that, you may do so by purchasing the product.
What do I do when thoughts creep into my head?
They will come up. How you deal with them is part of developing a practice. Here are some ideas.
“This isn’t working.”
When negative thoughts come into your head, just observe them and allow them to flow through. Release self judgment and continue on with your practice. Change takes time. Be patient. The effects of a practice like this are cumulative. Consistency and longevity will help you see positive results over time.
“I’m doing it wrong.”
There is no ‘right’ way to meditate. Allow yourself to grow into the practice. Be patient and gentle with yourself. You might try to use the practice at different times during the day or sitting in different positions to find what works best for you.
Notice whether you are saying things like, “This isn’t true for me.” Or “yea right” during your practice. These ‘tail-enders’ will unintentionally cause your brain to register the opposite of what you want to be saying to yourself and receive from the Universe. If you find yourself doing this, refer to the comment above.
“I don’t have time to do this.”
To begin, spend as much or as little time as you have, any time you spend in meditation will benefit you, even if it’s five minutes. You might try to use the practice just before going to sleep at night as a way to activate the thought so it is working for you through the night. If you miss a day, simply pick up where you left off and continue. Each session will be available on-line for 7 days. If you wish to have access to the content beyond that time, you may buy it and have it available whenever you want it.
How will I know the affirmations are working?
Pay attention to what is happening in your life and take note of the positive changes you are noticing. These shifts are likely a result of your new inner dialog and the actions it is causing.
What is the best way to listen to the recordings?
As this is an online event, you will be listening on a computer or a portable device like a tablet or smart phone. Sound quality over different devices will vary depending on the quality of speakers or internal sound processors. As well, the 21 day Personal Power Pathway music has binaural beat technology added which helps you become more relaxed and receptive to the affirmations. For both those reasons, we recommend the use of headphones to enrich your experience.
